To mark the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s ruling in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Intersections of Our Lives—a collaborative of In Our Own Voice: National Black Women’s Reproductive Justice Agenda, the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice, and the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum—issued the following statement:
“Four years ago, the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade stripped millions of women and gender expansive people across the country of the ability to control their bodies, their health, and their futures.
“In the aftermath of the Dobbs decision, attacks on women’s reproductive freedom at the federal, state, and local levels have escalated exponentially. From the undermining of science-backed medication to the criminalization of doctors and the persecution of pregnant people, reproductive healthcare has been dismantled, bit by bit, by the very people who are supposed to protect our freedoms. And bearing the brunt of these ongoing, ruthless attacks are women and gender-expansive people of color.
“As reproductive justice advocates, our work is anchored in the principle that we all have the right to control our bodies, our sexuality, our work, and our reproduction. At Intersections of Our Lives, we will continue fighting alongside our communities for a society where every person has the agency, resources, and power to make decisions about their body and future without fear or restriction.”
